I'm
riding the rangers
since I last summer,
herding them doggies
by night and by day.
Hippy tie -yi -yo,
swing along in the saddle,
swing along in the saddle,
swing along all day.
We swing to the saddle
on the first weeks of daylight,
the doggies are heading
out in a long line.
Yippee -tie -yi -yo, swing on,
young cowboys,
the old chuck wagon will roll up behind.
Then we start out on the great roundup
for weeks and weeks of riding we go.
Yippee -tie -yi -yo, get along,
little doggies,
back to the corral before there is snow.
Late in the evening we head for
the campfires,
round the chuckwag
on we all sit about.
Soon in the doorway comes
a boy so familiar,
there stands the old fat cook
and how he can shout.
Yippee -tie -yi -yo, come on,
young waddies,
the beans are a -steamin'
and the pork's in the tub.
Yippee -tie -yi -yo,
away we all ramble,
quit wranglin' them doggies
and wrangle your grub.
Yippee -tie -yi -yo,
de -lay -dee -oh,
de -lee -dee -lo -dee -oh,
de -lee -dee -lo -dee -hee.
Yippee -tie, yippee -i, yippee -ay,
dee -oh, dee -dee -lo,
dee -oh, dee -dee -lo, dee -dee -hee.
Round -up is over
an d work is all finished,
we're going to town,
tonight's a big ball.
Yippee -tie -yi -yo,
away we go ridin',
when we hit that old town,
just watch the girls fall.
With a swing to the left, one to the right
Birds are jingling, oh what a gay sight
Yippee -yi -yi -yi -yo,
swing on you young ladies
We cowboys are raiding
the old town tonight
They asked us to give them
a song of the roundup
While we sang a maiden's
eyes filled with delight
Yippee -yi -yi -yi -yo,
swing on you young ladies,
we cowboys are leaving
the old town tonight.
Yippee -yi -yi -yo, the lady, oh, the lady, oh, the little oldie, Yippee -yi -y i -yi -yo,
