Becoming more important every day
Saying to herself just one
Lord I'm really on my way
She became alarmed as she ascended
The rungs kept getting thinner on the way
Till one finally broke and she descended
In a heap of her ambition and dismay
And as she lay recovering in bed
and this is what He said,
Look at that field outside your window,
And there's your hope against the wall.
Be faithful in your field,
I will give you a good yield,
And love will be the greatest
feeling more inferior every day.
if God would make me smart,
or rich, or thin, or handsome,
as he was waiting for God to
turn him into someone else.
Every morning he was still just Matthew,
afraid to try and serve the Lord himself.
And as he lay despondently in bed,
and this is what he said, Matthew,

And Matthew, he forgot to feel inferior
He was much too busy bringing in his year

You'd see a lovely pattern he has made
Of fields where His family is fruitful,
